5 must visit locations: Amsterdam

Are you planning a European break but stuck on what to do? We’ve curated our top five places to visit in Amsterdam, the city that’s well known for it’s artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and extensive food markets!

De Hallen

Located in the Oud-West district, this repurposed tram shed has become one of the best street food halls in Europe. The building includes a cinema, a boutique hotel and a string of independent shops, and there’s a proper market running on the street behind too.

Tasty Burger

Named after the Samuel L. Jackson line in Pulp Fiction, this is the place to come when you have a meat and carbs vacuum that needs to be filled. All the meat is cooked in a big smoker and it’s open until 3am. If you’re feeling the after-effects of a heavy night they literally do a burger called ‘The Hangover’.

Hotel Pulitzer

If you’re looking for somewhere refined yet understated, where you can surround yourself with artsy looking types who can pull off rollnecks frustratingly well, this dimly lit hotel bar is the place. Think Art Deco literary club vibes with a fireplace and serious cocktails.

Rush Hour

Not only is Rush Hour one of the most consistently brilliant record labels in Europe, but the Rush Hour store is unbeatable too. You’re immersed in beautiful record sleeves from the moment you enter, faced with a wall laden with heavyweight soul and disco. Over by the listening decks you’ll find a selection of bright and bold afrobeat sleeves, with crates deeper than the North Sea snaking around the room. If you don’t go, you’ll regret it.

Spuistraat 116, 1012 VA Amsterdam, Netherlands

Game Over?

With vintage video games stacked floor to ceiling, from the Mega Drive to the NES and beyond, this shop is an Aladdin’s cave of retro gaming. It’s located on a side street a short walk from Centraal Station and will make your inner child light up as soon as you walk in.
