A Guide for the Bank Holiday Weekend

A Guide for the Bank Holiday Weekend

It’s the August bank holiday this weekend and we’re here to help you make the most of it. Whereas before you may have gone abroad for a long weekend, now is the time to look to the UK for a fun filled weekend and it does not disappoint. There is an abundance of things to do and places to see without having to get on a plane and here we’ve selected some of our top picks.

With Manchester making some of their streets in the Northern Quarter pedestrianised, it is the perfect place to go for the Bank Holiday weekend. With the opportunity to sit outside and have brunch from the likes of Flok in Stevenson Square or enjoy a large pizza from Common on Edge street, it is easy to spend a full day taking in the atmosphere that the newly pedestrianised streets offer. Or for a change of scenery from the Northern Quarter, head over to Spinningfields and sit outside at the ever popular Oast House or The Lawn Club where you can relax inside one of their private greenhouses.

For a weekend of culture and fun for the whole family, York is a go-to destination. Whether it’s ambling down the Shambles or watching fudge being made at the famous Fudge Kitchen, where they give you tasters as they go, there is something to please everyone. Not to mention the array of bars and restaurants such as Stonegate Yard which is just off the Shambles and serves up a delicious lunch either inside or outside in their quaint terrace area.

The Lake District

For a more relaxed bank holiday weekend, the Lake District is one that will not disappoint. With the famous Windermere giving beautiful views of its vast lake this it’s a perfect destination for the August bank holiday when the weather is (hopefully) still warm enough to explore the area with ease.
