Barbour International SS18: London Fashion Week Men’s

Barbour International is known and revered for its dedication and devotion to the thrill of motorcycle riding. It’s biker-inspired pieces are a celebration of Barbour’s long affiliation with riding and the joys of having and owning a motorbike. We headed to Barbour’s London Fashion Week Men’s show to check out what they had in store for SS18.

After entering through Phonica Records in London’s Soho and into The Vinyl Factory, you were greeted with 3D projections on the wall of the history of the brand, quotes from Founder Duncan Barbour, and its long affiliation with the King of Cool, actor Steve McQueen. Heading further into the presentation, which had a garage theme, a live working workshop was in full flow where Calum Pryce-Tidd from deBolex Engineering was busy tinkering on a custom-made Ducati motorbike, amongst others.

As you moved further into the presentation, crumpled t-shirts that had been immersed in wax by Dundee-based wax cotton specialists, Halley Stevensons, hung on thin wires from the ceiling – a nod to the wax legacy of the wax jackets Barbour has become famed for.

The models, who were stood on motorbike jacks, were casually styled in tracksuit bottoms and trainers – with SS18 pieces often half buttoned/zipped up. The colours were dark and tonal with greys, blues, blacks, and greens – colours we’ve come accustomed to seeing from Barbour International.

The immersive show was attended by a few famous faces; model Oliver Cheshire made a brief appearance as well as Charlie Barker, model and Instagram star.
