Best Dressed at The Met Gala

Best Dressed at The Met Gala

And just like that, the Met Gala 2022 is over! This year (as always) created some controversial moments and iconic looks. We’re ranking the best dressed at the Met Gala.

This years theme of American Fashion Anthology: Gilded Glamour and White Tie explored the origins of American fashion and paid homage to the US fashion from 1870-1890. There were many different interpretations of the theme this year, all of which were under the spotlight of fashion lovers around the world.

Arriving early as co-host was the stunning Blake Lively. Always one to match her ‘fit to the carpet, she didn’t disappoint yet again this year. Donning a bronze and blue Versace couture piece, she paid tribute to New York City with inspiration for the gown taken from historic landmarks in the city including the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Grand Central Station. Her dress reveal will go down as one of the greatest Met Gala moments.

Gold was the colour of the evening with many celebs sporting bright pieces including Khloe Kardashian (who made her Met debut this year!), Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and so many more. The glitz and glam was certainly present on the steps this year.

Some people hit the theme perfectly, none other than singer Billie Eilish. Not only was her Gucci dress completely perfect for the theme, it was created entirely with vintage Gucci materials. It was important to Billie to be as eco-friendly as possible this year and was dedicated to working on a sustainable look with Gucci. The figure-hugging dress added a Billie Eilish spin to Gilded Glamour.

Yes, we are going to talk about Kim Kardashian in the Marilyn Monroe dress. The reality star donned arguably the most iconic American dress we’ve ever seen, in Marilyn Monroe’s bejewelled Jean Louis piece that she wore to serenade president John F Kennedy in 1962. The piece valued at £3.8m stole the show as Kim arrived fashionably late to the event alongside boyfriend Pete Davidson.

We’ve got to shout out some of the best dressed men at this year’s event too. Stormzy’s all white Burberry look perfectly combined elegance with extravagance. Gilded glamour was perfectly achieved by actor Evan Mock in his corseted coat and low rise trousers by 4S Designs. We also had to shout out Ryan Reynolds in Ralph Lauren whose reaction to wife Blake Lively’s red carpet appearance will go down in history.
