Barbour was founded in 1984 by John Barbour when he began supplying workers in the North East of England with quality, functional garments. Fast forward twenty years and Barbour is a fifth generation, family-owned brand operating from their HQ in South Shields offering clothing inspired by the British countryside.

Barbour’s iconic wax jackets are still manufactured by hand in Simonside, South Shields and each year over 100,000 jackets are processed via their distribution centre.

Barbour now has 10 of its own stores in the UK, and a presence in over 40 countries worldwide including the United States, Germany, Holland, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand and Japan.
