London Fashion Week: Armani SS18

London Fashion Week: Armani SS18

Italian fashion giant Armani staged a colourful show on Sunday night far removed from the chaos of central London in the East’s Wapping on Tobacco Dock. Armani hasn’t ventured to the capital to put on a show in 11 long years – but it was well worth the wait.

In the build-up to the show, 700 black cabs and double-decker buses around London were customised with glossy imagery from the latest campaigns and the London Eye and County Hall were specially illuminated with a huge projection of the iconic Emporio Armani branding.

Armani’s SS18 collection was full of colour, life and youthfulness. The theme was bright and bold with eye-catching soft pastels and prints, flashes of signature neon green and deep reds on leather jackets. Lots of light, airy and elegant chiffon twinned with dark tan leather holdalls and bags made its way down the runway.

The front-rowers was a who’s who of celebrities – Poppy Delevingne, Ellie Goulding, Poloma Faith, Tom Odell and Liam Payne were notable attendees. 83-year-old Giorgio Armani was full of life and made an appearance at the end of the show surrounded by a bevy of models.

Giorgio said of the event: ‘I am very pleased to return to London, a decade after the One Night Only event I held in 2006, with a runway show to celebrate the opening of the renovated Emporio Armani store in New Bond Street.

This is a place of excitement, of invention, and great possibilities: starting out here on the new path for Emporio is highly symbolic. London, with its dynamism and its cultural vitality, is very inspiring and I am happy to consolidate Emporio’s strong ties with the British public.’
