New York Fashion Week FW21

New York Fashion Week FW21

For many 2021, has only just begun. But for the fashion world, we’re already thinking about fall and winter. Why you ask? For New York Fashion Week FW21 of course. As per what has become the norm, New York Fashion Week FW21 takes place as a digital event with many of the runways being streamed from the comfort of our own homes this year.

If you’ve missed out this week, either from being too busy with at-home workouts, or maybe cooking up the latest Tik Tok foodie trend (did someone say Feta Cheese Pasta?), then don’t worry. We’re here to give you some of the best highlights.

Colour Palettes

One big trend we see this year are shades of brown and orange with touches of rust reds. This remains unsurprising as a staple colour for fall, especially with the recent trend in brown palettes throughout many peoples wardrobes. However, we’re still excited to see how designers continue to push this classic palette and reinvent it to stay exciting and relevant into the latter half of the year.

Aside from the expected fall colours, we did see pops of yellow which really brightened things up but still worked with the overall fall colour palette. The likes of Badgley Mischka and Proenza Schouler were among the many to feature monochromatic yellow outfits this season.Derek Lam New York Fashion Week 2021

Moving away from colour almost completely, we also saw many tones of grey. What we particularly enjoyed was Derek Lam’s take on loungewear, with a blazer and boots to elevate the overall look. Whilst his pieces may be harder to find, the look itself is very easy to recreate through the likes of Holland Cooper Studio and Prevu Studio here at Tessuti. Add a pair of Moschino boots and you’ve got yourself a classic runway ready look as shown above.

Moving onto trends in general, cloud coats were a big hit. If you’ve not heard of the term before, it essentially refers to a big puffy cloud-like jacket. A jacket so puffy that you’ll feel like you’re tucked up in bed. For jackets similar to that of Jason Wu and Claudia Li, get ahead of the game and grab yours at Tessuti now from brands such as Parajumpers, Tommy Hilfiger and Pyrenex.

Sadly this year, we missed out on the likes of Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein. However, with many exciting trends being shown on the runway, we’re excited to see what’s to come from them.
