Milan Fashion Week Review

Milan Fashion Week Review

Milan Fashion Week may well be over, but that doesn’t mean we are going to stop talking about the shows that took to the catwalk. Here is some of our favourites.

Moschino

Where to start with Moschino? It’s easy to understand why everyone is talking about Jeremy Scott’s latest runway collection. Dresses that look like cakes, frosting wigs and pastel colours that could only be inspired by Macarons. The Moschino collection was a creative take on chic fashion and let’s be honest, everyone wants to have the most talked-about runway show. Debuting a cake-inspired collection is certainly one way to do that.

MSGM

MSGM’s creative director Massimo Giorgetti earmarked his collection as little witches. Why? Well, working with famed horror movie director, Dario Argento, the latest collection from MSGM is shrouded in a mysterious, understated look with a gothic twist.

The stand-out details include polished sartorial cuts, Transylvania-esque ruffle necks and shimmering cardigans: all with a touch of MSGM’s playfulness and bright colours included.

Missoni

Missoni was a big hit this year at Milan Fashion Week. As a brand steeped in so much history, it was refreshing to see the collection stay true to Missoni’s roots with an expertly crafted range of knitwear designs. Despite an archive-inspired collection, Missoni freshened up the range with the addition of oversized fits and geometric patterning. Definitely one to keep an eye on this year.

The Missoni show closed with sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid walking the runway together. As Missoni is famed as still being a family business, headed by the founder’s daughter Angela Missoni, this was a fitting touch to end a talked-about show.

BOSS

Understated, refined and classic. As expected, BOSS delivered a strong, wearable collection in Milan that stayed true to the brand’s overarching values.

Key trends included oversized leather topcoats, the return of the V-neck jumper, as well as a range of tonal formalwear; think purple suits on purple shirts on purple ties.
