Paris Fashion Week Men’s: Day One Highlights

Paris Fashion Week Men’s: Day One Highlights

Warm air, busy schedules and thousands of brands, industry experts and fashionistas hitting Paris can only mean one thing; Paris Fashion Week Men’s is back and in full swing to showcase SS20 designs and flaunt the latest collections. We hit the streets of Paris to find out more and here’s all the highlights from day 1 in the European fashion capital.

We started the day by visiting Y-3, with layered black linen flags all embroidered with Japanese sentiment, we were definitely in the right place.

The heritage of Y-3 was clearly displayed in the exhibition with a mix of Japanese graphics influenced from Bosozoku, the youth cultural movement of rebellious motorcycle gangs of Japan.

Their style was influenced by a fusion of workwear and World War II, meaning the hanging flags were engulfed with customised slogans, imperial flags and kanji logograms, particularly those with the irony of Yohji Yamamoto with meanings from ‘Roaring black crew, I love you and OK! Sports, bring it on’. The flags led to a showroom of SS20 Y-3 product, which you can read more about here.

Axel Arigato

We then headed across the city to see Axel Arigato and to spot the highlights and key lines from the SS20 range. A room filled with not only footwear but with apparel to accompany, the chilled-out vibe had a lot to offer.

With the new apparel range inspired by a black mirror episode – nosedive – we seen the Scandinavian brand’s latest collection touch upon futuristic cultures of social status and fitting to socialised norms. With vast developments of men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear ranges, Alex Arigato is definitely a brand to watch for 2020.

Ending the day at the Missoni showroom, we were not disappointed. Missoni always has been known for that Italian luxury investment which we have learned to love and appreciate over the years. Being a key brand in the luxe fashion world, Missoni and it’s recent and future collaborations will be a continued key brand for SS20. We’re excited to see what’s next …
