Stress Awareness Month: How To Cope With Stress

Between work, social life and personal life, things can get a little stressful. We live in a fast-paced society where there are always things to be doing. We think it is important to take time for yourself and destress your life. This month is Stress Awareness month and for this we’re giving you some helpful tips on how to cope and hopefully reduce stress.

One of the main sources of stress can be work. Whether it be working towards deadlines, interacting with customers, or maintaining professional relationships, there’s a lot to deal with in the workplace. A really good way to start your week and help you prepare for the days ahead is to make lists. Start with a brain dump and get everything out of your head. From there make a list, putting your priorities to the top of the list. With this, you can manage your workload, ask for help if you need it, and get your thoughts in order.

One of the main things you can do when feeling stressed is talk to someone. Whether that be a friend, a family member, or a colleague, it really helps to communicate how you are feeling. Sometimes a problem shared can instantly reduce stress. Often, they will have advice or be able to help you themselves which can drastically reduce stress. Normally people are ready and willing to help where they can.

A lot of the time, whether you stress about something or not it won’t change the outcome. Because of this, where possible try not to let it consume your thoughts. A good way to do this is to distract yourself with exercising. A team sport can be great for this as you’re concentrating on the task in hand and talking with people about something completely different. Or if high intensity sports aren’t your thing, yoga is a great way to practise quieting your thoughts whilst moving your body in a gentle way. Try to get out of the house and attend a class if possible as the group environment often helps with distracting your mind.

This Stress Awareness month, take time to reduce your stress with these helpful hints and tips.
