The Essential Guide: 24 Hours In New York

New York is the city that never sleeps, the beating big apple with always something to do or see. With that in mind we are giving you some of our top tips for spending 24 hours in New York as we know it can be hard knowing what to do first.

Start the day off right. Looking for the best brunch in New York? Look no further than Black Seed for the best bagels the city has to offer. They produce the most instagram worthy content, providing an array of unusual flavour combinations for the grown-up approach to a classic NY dish. A popular destination for foodies, this will set you up nicely for a day of exploring the city.

When getting around the busy city, it can be hard to know which transport option is best. Traffic is bad in New York and there is a constant orchestra of beeping horns and frustrated cab drivers. So, whilst hailing down a yellow taxi is a novelty that we all want to experience, the subway is definitely your best bet.

It is hard to comprehend the scale of New York until you are amongst it, craning your head to try and see the top of buildings that disappear in the clouds. The Empire State building is something to behold for its sheer height. Whilst this may be your first choice to visit the top of, we would recommend paying a visit to the top of the Rockefeller instead. Not only is this a cheaper option, but it also gives you an amazing view of the whole city as well as the Empire State Building and the equally impressive Chrysler building.

If you feel like you need to escape the endless concrete, take the time to explore Central Park. Located in the heart of Manhattan, this is an urban oasis to let your busy mind run free. Then there’s the Highline. The Highline is a tranquil garden built on old rail tracks that you can walk along and enjoy over 500 different species of greenery. There’s nothing quite like it. A real must-see in a city full of attractions.

End your day in Times Square. A visit here at night when the neon lights are lit has to be on your bucket list. Embrace the moment with a $1 slice of pizza in hand, although this won’t provide the best culinary delight you’ve ever had, an oversized slice of a classic New York pizza is a must. The perfect end to 24 hours in the metropolis of New York City.
