The Latest Collection: Fred Perry X BEAMS

The Polo Shirt pioneers, Fred Perry, have partnered with Japanese department store Beams on a new capsule. Celebrating everything that we love about the laurel wreath, this capsule continues an ongoing collaboration between the two brands over the past 10 years. Get your knowledge on this partnership up to scratch below.

Fred Perry is a brand that needs no introduction. Brought to market by tennis legend and Wimbledon winner Fred Perry himself, the brand is famed for the classic twin tipped polo inspired by the tennis courts.

As Fred Perry continue to develop throughout the 21st century, they have called on various cult designers to produce sought-after collaborations. From the recently appointed Co-Creative Director at Prada, Raf Simons, to Japanese label Commes des Garcons to British up-and-coming designer Nicholas Daley; Fred Perry know a thing or two about a good collaboration.

This latest iteration with Beams calls upon some of Beams’ key trademarks. Fred Perry x Beams includes their use of colour. Established over 40 years ago in the Harajuku district of Tokyo, Beams has developed a reputation for creating superior basics like T-Shirts and Underwear. Being a department store, Beams also stocks a range of fashion-forward brands. This is where the partnership with Fred Perry likely started.

What can you expect from Fred Perry x Beams? For a start, there is some spectacular advertising featuring Fred Perry himself which served as key inspiration for the range. Also, Beams’ signature colour palette mixing makes an appearance. There’s some fine stripe detailing, repeat laurel wreath logos and all of the products that you would expect from Fred Perry. For example, we’ve got Polo Shirts, Long Sleeve Tees, Short Sleeve Shirts and a Track Jacket to top off the collection
